Man Dies in Motorcycle/Vehicle Accident

ST. CROIX, USVI – On December 31, 2021, at 4:52 p.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched officers to a reported two-vehicle accident on Route 82 (East End Road), just east of the D. C. Canegata Sports Complex. Officers found evidence of a collision between a Nissan Versa and motorcycle, and the body of a male in the eastbound lane.

The investigation revealed the operator of the motorcycle was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed, apparently losing control of the motorcycle, veering into the eastbound lane and colliding into the right side of the Nissan Versa. The operator of the motorcycle - identified by next of kin as 45-year-old Vanborn R. Neptune, Jr. of Boetzberg - was not wearing a helmet required by VI law, and severely injured in the collision, succumbing to his injuries on the scene. The driver and passenger in the Nissan Versa sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were treated and released from the Juan Francisco Luis Hospital & Medical Center.

The VIPD’s Traffic Investigation Bureau continues to investigate the accident.
