B.V.I. Training Initiative
British Virgin Islands
August 29, 2005
As part of Commissioner Elton Lewis commitment to building a solidified working relationship with other police forces in the region, members of the Virgin Islands Police Department Street Enforcement Team, under the leadership of Sgt. Winsbut McFarlande, traveled to the British Virgin Islands and provided a two week tactical course for members of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force.
The two week training entailed physical fitness, defensive tactics, building entries, handcuffing techniques and tactical movements. On the final day of the training, the entire Team traveled to BVI and impressed the audience with a tactical demonstration.
Upon completion of the training, the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force was afforded the opportunity to showcase what they retained for their superiors. Present for the demonstration were the Honorable Barry Webb, former Police Commissioner, Training Inspector Patrick Harewood, Superintendent Claudius Duncan, Inspector Donnie Rogers and other members of the community.
