St. Thomas Police Confiscate Firearm

Police on St. Thomas confiscated a firearm and arrested 21-year-old Jose Almestica following a routine traffic stop at about 6 p.m. April 14. Almestica was charged with possession of an Unlicensed Firearm.
Police stopped Almestica in the area of Fort Christian Parking lost and discovered he had a .40 caliber Smith and Wesson firearm and ammunition in his possession. Almestica, is a native of St. Thomas who lives in Estate Contant.
While in police custody Almestica was identified as the person who shot at an unoccupied vehicle in the Havensight area at about 3:30 a.m. April 14 damaging the windshield, front passenger door, driver side window and back tire. Almestica also grazed a victim in the left forearm with a bullet. He was rearrested and charged with Assault III.
Almesticas’ bail was set at $25,000 and he was remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending further court action.
