Man Arrested For Brandishing Gun at Police Officers
August 12, 2009
At about 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 11, police assigned to Bike Patrol arrested 45-year-old Wayne A. Studdard and charged him with Assault Third and Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm after he pointed a gun at several persons including police officers on the boardwalk in Christiansted.
While on patrol on the boardwalk several persons approached police and told them a white male was pointing a gun at some people in the vicinity of Stixx restaurant.
Police immediately went to the area an identified the suspect who was pointing a small caliber handgun at several people.
The officers shouted “Police, put the weapon down” and then Studdard turned toward the police still pointing the weapon.
Police yelled for him to put down the weapon again and Studdard put the weapon in his front right pocket and got down on the ground.
He was taken into custody without further incident.
Studdard, who is originally from Ohio, was placed on a $25,000 bail and turned over to the custody of the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility and was taken to Advice of Rights on Tuesday where the charges were upheld by the court.
Studdard was released by the court on an unsecured bond pending further court action.
