St. Thomas Police Recover Two Firearms and Make Arrest

During an inspection of St. Thomas “hot spots” police arrested 25-year-old Keba Tyrell and charged him with Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm and Possession of Stolen Property.
Police confirmed that the confiscated weapon was stolen in 2007 from a licensed owner.
The arrest was made in the vicinity of the Dana Mart supermarket at about 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 9.
The arrest was made by members of a special task force formed under the office of St. Thomas/St. John/Water Island Police Chief Rodney Querrard Sr. and in response to recent calls of shots fired.
Tyrell, who lives on Brookman Road, was observed by police acting in a suspicious manner and detained.
A loaded 40 caliber Taurus hand gun was found in his possession.
Another weapon was found hidden in the area.
Tyrell was held on a $25,000 bail and was remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending further court action.
