Police Investigating Weekend Death on St. Thomas

The Virgin Islands Police Department is investigating the death of St. Thomas resident following a response to a disturbance of the peace in the Bordeaux area of St. Thomas.
According to St. Thomas – St. John – Water Island Deputy Chief Melvin Venzen at about 9:50 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2008, police responded to a disturbance of the peace near the old tennis courts in Estate Bordeaux and observed a male individual lying in the grass near a vehicle.
“There were no apparent signs of trauma or visible wounds on the body,” Venzen said.
Police questioned and released another male who was allegedly involved in a verbal altercation with the deceased.
“We are awaiting the results of the autopsy that will determine the cause of death,” Venzen said.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld from the public pending notification of next of kin.
