Hospital Ground Area Businessman Murdered

ST. THOMAS – Detectives in the Major Crimes Unit are investigating the murder of a 29 year-old Arab male and St. Thomas native who was gunned down outside his place of business Monday, December 10, 2007 at approximately 10:09pm.
Central dispatch received several calls reporting shots fired in the area between 10:09pm and 10:14pm. Police say the victim, identified by relatives as Saker H. Mohammed, was found lying motionless next to his vehicle and had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the body. Mr. Mohammed is the proprietor of EZ Grocery, a convenience store located in Hospital Ground.
Police say the store was closed and locked and it appeared the victim was preparing to leave the area. Police have not ruled out robbery as a motive, however the incident is under investigation and a clear motive for the shooting has not been determined. Police Chief Rodney Quearrd is asking anyone in the community with information that will assist investigators to contact the Major Crime Unit at 715-5534 or dial 911.
