Police Investigate Shooting (Assault 3rd) Near Mahagony Run

ST. THOMAS – Detectives in the VIPD Investigation Bureau are investigating an Assault (3rd) that police say began with an auto accident and resulted in minor injury to a male St. Thomas resident. The incident was reported to police Sunday, December 9, 2007 at approximately 10:00pm. According to statements made to police, a verbal altercation between two males ensued after their respective vehicles collided on the main road near the Mahogany Run Golf Course. During the altercation a firearm was discharged and the victim of the shooting was treated for a “grazed” shoulder and released from the hospital. Police have verified the shooter, a 36 year-old male resident of Mahogany Run, has a valid firearms license. No arrests have been made and the incident is the subject of an ongoing investigation.
