Police Commissioner Announces the Apprehension of Renelle Lettsome

Police Commissioner Elton Lewis today, November 29, 2005 announced the arrest of Mr. Renelle Lettsome on a warrant issued by the Superior Court of the Virgin Islands, St. Thomas Division.
Mr. Lettsome was apprehended by members of the British Virgin Islands Police Department.
Commissioner Lewis stated, "I have been in constant telephonic contact with Police Commissioner Reynel Frazer of the British Virgin Islands Police Department after announcing that there were outstanding arrest warrants for Mr. Renelle Lettsome and Tullius Stewart for their alleged involvement in incidents on or about October 23rd and October 29th, 2005 that occurred in Estate Grunwald, St. John.
This was done to alert the BVI Police Department about the possibility that they might have traveled to Tortola to avoid apprehension.
I had been made aware that Mr. Lettsome had been sighted in Tortola and I was confident he would be found.
According to information provided by Commissioner Frazer, Mr. Lettsome turned himself in to the custody of the BVI Police Department on Sunday, November 27th, 2005 after he learned that he was wanted for his alleged involvement in the Estate Grunwald incident.
Presently, Mr. Lettsome is being held in Tortola without bail, pending extradition to the US Virgin Islands."
Based on the outstanding Arrest Warrant for Mr. Renelle Lettsome, a 21-year old male of Estate Carolina; St. John. He is being charged with Murder in the First Degree, Assault in the First Degree, Assault in the Third Degree, Arson and the Possession and Using a Dangerous Weapon during the Commission of a Crime of Violence, which occurred on October 29, 2005 in the Estate Grunwald Area of St. John, USVI. Commissioner Lewis further stated, "Members of the Major Crime Unit of the Virgin Islands Police Department and an Attorney of the Department of Justice will be traveling to Tortola today to assist with the speedy extradition of Mr. Lettsome back to the US Virgin Islands to face the charges against him".
Commissioner Lewis added, "I am grateful for the assistance of Commissioner Reynel Frazer and the Officers of the British Virgin Islands Police Department in the apprehension of Mr. Renelle Stewart. I extend a heartfelt thank you on behalf of the V.I. Police Department for you valued assistance."
