Police on St. Croix are investigating the death of Hector Luis Velasquez, a 28-year-old resident of Estate Barren Spot. Mr. Velasquez is the victim of a shooting that occurred on Saturday, November 18, 2006.

Officers dispatched to the V.P Service Station in Sunny Isles at 12:37 a.m. on Saturday found the victim to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was taken to the Juan F. Luis Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after 1:00 a.m.

Police are investigating reports that a vehicle was seen leaving the area at a high rate of speed shortly after the shooting. Anyone having information on this crime is urged to contact the confidential Criminal Investigation Bureau hotline at (340)778-4950 or 911.
