St. Croix Deputy Police Chief Herminio Velazquez announced today parking restrictions and street closings in effect on Saturday, September 30, 2006 in the town of Christiansted.

The following areas will be closed to accommodate the funeral services for former Adjutant General Gerard Luz A. James:

• 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. – King Street, between Queen Cross and Prince Street and Prince Street between King and Company Streets.
• 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. – Company Street, from the vicinity of Holy Cross Catholic Church to the Christiansted Cemetery.

In an unrelated matter, also on Saturday, the Times Square area (Market Street between King and Company Streets) will be closed from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. while a film crew from the Tempo channel is on location.

Motorists are advised to use alternate routes until the scheduled events are completed.
