The Major Crime Unit of the Virgin Islands Police Department is investigating the shooting death of Kendahl Brathwaite, a 20-year-old resident of Estate Thomas, St. Thomas. Mr. Brathwaite is the victim of a shooting that occurred on Monday, September 25, 2006.

According to preliminary police reports, shortly before midnight, police responded to reports of a shooting incident at the Benji Bay Car Wash located in lower Kronprindsens Gade. Upon arriving at the scene, police found the victim to be suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his body. The victim was transported by ambulance to the Roy Lester Schneider Regional Medical Center where he underwent emergency surgery for his wounds.

Mr. Brathwaite expired from his wounds at approximately 4:13 a.m. this morning.
