The Criminal Investigation Bureau of the Virgin Islands Police Department is investigating the homicide of Earl Russell Dennis, a 26-year-old St. Croix resident. Mr. Dennis is the victim of a shooting that occurred on Friday, September 15, 2006.

According to police reports, officers patrolling the Christiansted area heard shots being fired in the vicinity of Company Street at approximately 3:09 a.m. Police were directed by concerned citizens to the area of the shooting where they discovered a black male lying in the street, the victim of multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was transported by ambulance to the Juan F. Luis Hospital, where he received emergency surgery. Mr. Dennis expired from his wounds in the morning hours of Wednesday, September 20, 2006.
