Police Investigating St. Croix Shooting

Police are investigating the shooting of a St. Croix man that occurred in the
early morning hours of Friday, September 15, 2006. The victim is reported to be
a 26-year-old resident of Croixville Apartments in Frederiksted.
According to preliminary police reports, at approximately 3:09 a.m. this
morning, officers patrolling the Christiansted area heard shots being fired in
the vicinity of Company Street. Police were directed by concerned citizens to
the nightclub known as “De Playground”, where they discovered a black male
lying in the street, the victim of multiple gunshot wounds. Eyewitnesses at the
scene reported that the shots may have come from the second floor of the
nightclub.
The victim was transported by ambulance to the Juan F. Luis Hospital, where he
received emergency surgery. His condition is not known at this time.
Police report that three vehicles at the scene were damaged as a result of the
gunfire.
