Novelle E. Francis, Jr., Assistant Commissioner of the Virgin Islands Police Department, reminds the community of alternate numbers to contact in the event of an emergency.

Francis says that telephone systems servicing 911 dispatch throughout the territory have been affected in recent weeks. According to Francis, there have been no negative effects on police operations or service. In the event of an inability to reach 911, residents are urged to contact police stations directly at the following numbers:

St. Thomas

• Richard Callwood Command (Charlotte Amalie) at 775-3445; or
• Mariel Newton Command (Four Winds) at 774-3445

St. John

• Leander Jurgen Command at 693-8880

St. Croix

• Ann Schrader Command (La Reine Shopping Center) at 778-9757;
• Wilbur Francis Command (Frederiksted) at 772-3566;
• Ancilmo Marshall Command (Christiansted) at 773-2530.

Emergency numbers for cell phone users are 772-9111 (St. Croix) and 776-9110 (St. Thomas/St. John).

“The Police Department continues to aggressively pursue the rehabilitation of our communications systems as part of our ongoing commitment to public safety,” Francis states.
