Man Blames Girlfriend For Auto Accident, Then Assaults Her

St. Thomas, USVI - On Friday, January 27, 2023, at about 12:31 a.m., Mr. Miguel Jno-Baptiste, 27-years-old, was placed under arrest after his girlfriend identified him as the person who assaulted her.

The victim stated that on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at about 6:30 p.m., Mr. Jno-Baptiste came to her residence and began blaming her for an auto accident that he got into at about 7:00 a.m. on the same day. The victim said that Mr. Jno-Baptiste began to strike her in the head and about her body and left the residence. She said that he came back and when she tried to speak to him, he struck her in the head and began to strangle her.

Mr. Miguel Jno-Baptiste was charged with Assault in the Second Degree-DV, Simple Assault-DV and Disturbance of the Peace-DV. No bail was set. He was turned over to the Bureau of Corrections pending his Advice of Rights Hearing.
