66-Year-Old Man Arrested for Murder in the 1st Degree

Arrested: Randal Yates, age 66.

Frederiksted, St. Croix – On March 10, 2023, the 911 Emergency Call Center received a call at 1: 20p.m, from an adult male who reported that he discovered his female companion unresponsive on the bathroom floor. He said she was cold to the touch and told 911 that he tried to perform CPR; however, she remained unresponsive.

E.M.S. arrived and found no sign of life. The VIPD was notified and found that the death appeared suspicious in nature and the Criminal Investigation Bureau proceeded to investigate the incident. The remains were turned over to the Department of Justice Medical Director’s Office pending an autopsy. On Wednesday, March 15, 2023, Dr. Francisco Landron performed the autopsy and determined that the cause of death was due to blunt force trauma to the head and the manner of death is homicide.

The male companion, 66 years old Randal Yates of Frederiksted, was picked up and advised of his rights and provided a statement denying and involvement in the demise of the victim who was identified by next of kin as 57-year-old Kathryn Almony of Williams Delight, Frederiksted.
