VIPD Officer’s Name Added to National Memorial
The name of Police Officer Steven Hodge was recently added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC. Lt. Martin Venzen and Sgt. Barrington Thomas, of the St. Thomas/St. John/Water Island district, attended the 19th Annual Candlelight Vigil hosted by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, Inc.
The candlelit ceremony honors the nation’s law enforcement officers and pays special tribute to those who have lost their lives in the line of duty. During the vigil, the names of those officers whose names have been newly engraved on the memorial are read.
Officer Hodge served with the Virgin Islands Police Department for five years. He lost his life in a shooting incident that occurred outside of his home on March 27, 1994.
