Police on St. John arrested 27-year-old Jomo J. Gordon and charged him with Robbery in the First Degree. Police said the suspect attempted to sell a gold chain to an individual but instead took the money without handing over the jewelry. Gordon was born on St. Kitts and lives on St. John.

Police said a 24 year-old male victim was approached by Gordon who asked him to buy a gold chain. The victim went for money to purchase the chain and was robbed by Gordon of his money.

St. John Deputy Chief Darren Foy cautioned residents and visitors to St. John against buying products, whether jewelry or electronics from anyone other than a reputable and licensed merchant.

“Merchandise sold in any other way may be stolen,” Deputy Chief Foy said. “Anyone buying such merchandise is at great risk of having their money stolen or suffering bodily harm.”

Gordon was arrested on June 26, at 6 p.m., about two hours after the robbery took place. His bail was set at $25,000 and he was placed in the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending further court action.
