Accused Murderer of Police Officer Transferred to Adult Correctional Facility

Basheem Camal Ford, the 18-year-old accused murderer of Police Officer Ariel Frett was transferred From Youth Rehabilitation Center at Estate Ann’s Hope to the Golden Grove Correctional Facility on Tuesday, Feb. 19.
Ford was 17 when he was arrested on February 8, 2007 for Frett’s murder. He had been detained at YRC since shortly after the murder; however a Superior Court Judge has ruled that Ford will be tried as an adult.
Ford is charged with Murder First Degree; Unauthorized Use of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime of Violence; First Degree Assault and Aiding and Abetting.
Officer Ariel Frett, 52, was a 25 year veteran of the Police Department in the St. Thomas district. He died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds on Feb 8, 2007 in the Hospital Ground area of St. Thomas.
