Law Enforcement Recruits Graduate from Police Academy

U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS – The Virgin Islands Police Department’s Training Bureau held graduation ceremonies in both Districts for its law enforcement recruits.

On September 8 - St. Thomas, at the University of the Virgin Islands Sports & Fitness Center, 11 law enforcement officers and 4 auxiliary police officers received their oath of office. The law enforcement officers are:

  • Angenique Larcheveaux – Virgin Islands Police Department
  • Tanisha Ryan-Estevez – Bureau of Corrections
  • Jahmar Hodge – Bureau of Corrections (Highest Physical Fitness Award, Leadership Certificate)
  • Merian Pena Guerrero – Department of Justice (Highest Academic Award)
  • Antonio Christopher – Department of Planning & Natural Resources (Most Determined Certificate)
  • Senae Glasgow – Executive Security Unit
  • Khalisha Clarke – Virgin Islands Legislature
  • D-Ganric Callwood – Virgin Islands Port Authority (Highest Firearm Award, Commissioner’s Award)
  • Desta Williams – Virgin Islands Port Authority (Highest Physical Fitness Award)
  • Denisha Roberts – Virgin Islands Port Authority
  • Abigail Eli – Virgin Islands Port Authority (Highest Firearm Award)

The auxiliary police officers are:

  • Kavern Brathwaite (Highest Physical Fitness Award)
  • Delvin Duggins, Jr. (Highest Firearm Award, Leadership Certificate)
  • Aisha Somersall (Highest Academic Award)
  • Johwann Stuart (Highest Physical Fitness Award, Highest Firearm Award, Commissioner’s Award)

On September 17 - St. Croix, at the D. C. Canegata Recreational Center, 15 law enforcement officers and 4 auxiliary police officers received their oath of office. The law enforcement officers are:

  • Tishelle Cox – Virgin Islands Police Department
  • Alexis Dujon – Virgin Islands Police Department (Highest Firearm Award, Commissioner’s Award)
  • Shane Hector – Virgin Islands Police Department
  • Rasheeda King – Virgin Islands Police Department
  • Shamalia Lopez – Virgin Islands Police Department
  • Akima Benjamin – Juan F. Luis Hospital
  • Harold Johnson – Juan F. Luis Hospital
  • Charles Sealey, Jr. – Juan F. Luis Hospital
  • Shannon Nielsen – Juan F. Luis Hospital (Highest Physical Fitness Award)
  • David Isaac, Jr. – Bureau of Corrections
  • Talif Nurse – Bureau of Corrections (Leadership Certificate)
  • Chenelle Brady – Executive Security Unit
  • Darrette Serrano – Executive Security Unit (Highest Physical Fitness Award, Most Determined Certificate)
  • Martha Sankitts – Department of Planning & Natural Resources
  • Annais Jawahir – Virgin Islands Legislature (Highest Academic Award)

The auxiliary police officers who were promoted, who will be working in the Virgin Islands Police Department, were:

  • Johnny Cornelius (Highest Physical Fitness Award, Highest Firearm Award, Commissioner’s Award)
  • Careeme Smith (Leadership Certificate)
  • Jonah Smith (Most Determined Certificate)
  • Tiesha Soto (Highest Physical Fitness Award, Highest Firearm Award)

Remarks were given by Governor Albert Bryan, Jr. and Police Commissioner Nominee Ray Martinez. Both extended heartfelt congratulations and encouragement to the new officers as they start their new careers. The keynote speaker for the St. Thomas graduation was Virgin Islands Attorney General Denise George, and the guest speaker in St. Croix was Sean Santos, St. Croix District Chief of Police.
