St. Croix Man Charged with Cashing Counterfeit Checks

ST. CROIX, USVI – On September 13, at 12:42 p.m., detectives of the VIPD Economic Crime Unit arrested 34-year-old Javier Crispin of Smithfield on a warrant. He was charged with Passing Forged Bills or Notes, Grand Larceny, Forgery, and Obtaining Money by False Pretense.

Crispin allegedly deposited two counterfeit checks into his personal account remotely from two different establishments he was not employed at. He withdrew a total of $1,440 before the total amount of the checks was cleared.

Bail for Crispin was set at $20,000. Unable to post bail, he was turned over to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections, pending his Advice of Rights hearing.
