Man Burglarizing Cruz Bay Restaurants in Custody

On April 4, 2017 at approximately 9:30 am, central dispatch transmitted that a burglary had occurred at the Wharfside Bistro Restaurant in Wharfside Village, Cruz Bay, St. John.

The suspect entered the restaurant after it was closed, broke into the refrigerator, and stole over one thousand dollars ($1,000) worth of alcohol.

Investigation revealed that Malik Cheatham was the suspect.

On April 11, 2017 at approximately 8:08 am, central dispatch transmitted that a burglary had occurred at the Hightide Restaurant in Cruz Bay, St. John. Investigation revealed that the suspect was again 66-year-old Malik Cheatham of Solberg. Removed from the kitchen were food, liquor, sodas, and an iPod.

Cheatham was located on April 13, 2017 at approximately 4:40 pm on St. John where he was placed under arrest and charged with Burglary Third and Trespassing.

He was unable to post bail, and was turned over to the Bureau of Corrections pending advice of rights hearing.
