Police Continue to Investigate Jewelry Robbery
April 21, 2012
Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives are still investigating a First Degree Robbery that occurred on at about 1 p.m. Saturday, April 14 at the Majestic Jewelers on St. Thomas. Police are asking the community’s assistance to identify the suspects or report if they know anything about the jewelry that was stolen.
According to the initial police report two armed men wearing ski masks entered the business and demanded that everyone get on the floor. The suspects took white gold and gold jewelry from a display case and fled the store.
Witnesses said the suspects entered a silver minivan, which was later determined by police to be a rental vehicle, and drove off in a northern direction. Police recovered the vehicle abandoned in the Paul M. Person Garden apartments.
Police have interviewed several persons in connection to this case; however additional information is needed to make any arrest.
The VI Police Department cautions the public that purchasing stolen goods is illegal and buyers as well as sellers can face criminal prosecution. Additionally, buying and selling stolen goods increases criminal activity in a community. Proceeds from the sale of stolen goods can be used to purchase weapons, drugs and other items that are detrimental to the VI community.
