Driver Injured at Stoplight

Police on St. Croix are investigating an Assault Third Degree that occurred on the Queen Mary highway near the Estate Williams Delight stoplight. A female victim told police she was shot by an unknown male who attempted to gain entry into her vehicle.  

The 20-year-old victim told police just after 1 a.m. Monday, August 29 she was stopped her vehicle at a red light when an unknown male dressed in all black with a black cloth covering his face approached her car, attempted to open the door and pointed a handgun at her.

The victim accelerated her vehicle at the same time the suspect discharged a shot which grazed her in the upper body. The victim then drove herself to the Governor Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center for treatment.
