Police on St. Croix are investigating a robbery and an attempted robbery that occurred in the Christiansted government parking lot Saturday, August 27. One female was approached by an armed man who tried to rob her and another female was robbed of cash and a cell phone.

The first incident occurred minutes after 2 a.m. Saturday. The female victim was getting into her car to leave the area when an unknown male holding a handgun grabbed the driver’s side door and attempted to open it. The female began screaming and pulling the door and the attacker fled the scene on foot.

The second incident happened at about 3:30 a.m. the same day. The female victim was returning to her car when a male approached, got into the back seat, and told the victim to get out of the car. She refused to get out and the suspect struck her in the face. The suspect then asked for her wallet and cell phone, which she gave him. The suspect got out of the vehicle and left the area.

Both incidents are being followed up by the Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives. Anyone having any information on these robberies is asked to call detectives at 712-6077 or 712-6037 or you can call Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-TIPS
