  • Police Recover Property from School Burglary – Two Arrested

    Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives on St. Croix have recovered property stolen in last week’s break-in of St. Croix Central High School. One adult male was arrested and charged with Possession of Stolen Property. A male minor who attends Central High was also arrested.

  • Child is Safe with Family

    On May 9 a VIPD press release was issued stating an Amber Alert was issued for a 9-year-old boy who reportedly was taken from the Virgin Islands by a person other than the custodial parent. Upon further investigation the VIPD has determined that the Amber Alert was never issued, the minor is safe with family and the VIPD is following up this case to determine the validity of the initial complaint.

    Police on St. Thomas have issued a stateside Amber Alert for 9-year-old Jermaine Henderson. The minor was last seen at the Cyril E. King International Airport with his maternal grandmother boarding a flight to Florida.

  • Man on House Arrest Charged with Gun Possession

    Police on St. Croix executed an arrested warrant early Wednesday morning. Officers arrested Trevor Mars, charging him with Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm and Possession of a Stolen Firearm. Mars was on house arrest pending court action on previous charges.

  • Autopsies Completed in Death of Two Men

    Detectives on St. Croix said additional investigation is needed to conclusively determine the cause of deaths in the case of Kassaun Baptiste and Jose Navarro. The pair was found dead in their home on Wednesday, May 1.

    Police on St. Thomas have arrested a fugitive from justice who was detained at the Cyril E. King International Airport. The suspect, Cameron Jerome Broadbelt is wanted on armed robbery charges in Gwinnet County Georgia.

    Police on St. Thomas arrested one person suspected of being involved with an armed robbery at the Hooter’s Restaurant. Witnesses reported that two suspects entered the front of the restaurant while two more entered through a back door. No one was injured, police said.

  • Three Injured at Jouvert Shooting

    April 25, 2013
    Three persons were injured by gunshots during the St. Thomas Carnival Jouvert celebration a few minutes before 9 a.m. Thursday, April 25. The victims were taken to the Schneider Regional Medical Center for treatment. One victim was injured in his leg, another in his arm and the third victim was shot in his chest and successfully underwent emergency surgery according to medical personnel. Police are following all leads to apprehend the person or persons responsible.
